Are you taking a vacation this year? How much? A new survey finds not only will most U.S .workers not take all their vacation this year, they aren't even planning on it.

According to Bankrate, only 28 percent of Americans plan on using all of their vacation this year, and four percent say they won't use there vacation time at all. Dr. Ben Springgate, LSU Health New Orleans Chief of Community and Population Medicine says that kind of attitude is counterproductive.

"Research shows that taking time off can be good for your health and also an boost your productivity at work over the long haul," said Dr. Springgate. "If you're not able to unplug, to take some downtime, to rest, to recuperate, get your energy back, you're not helping your employer, you're not helping your productivity."

And there are adverse health effects, with medical research showing too much work without enough time away increases the risk of heart disease and stroke.
