Some parents continue to link the two, to the exasperation of many medical experts.

"It's not been proven scientifically that these vaccines are associated with autism, there was a study years back that has since been refuted," said Infectious Disease Specialist, Dr. Fred Lopez, at LSU.

So far there are no confirmed measles cases in Louisiana, but Texas now has five. Dr. Lopez says this is a highly contagious and dangerous disease.

"One in every thousand measles case will develop inflammation of the brain, one or two will die," said Lopez

Lopez says parents should not take chances with the measles.
